After the diving commenced on Friday afternoon, we ventured into town for lunch. I guess technically we’re in town, but we seem to be a few blocks away from any sort of food places.
After picking up Kristen’s credit card from the night before (too drunk to remember to take it after paying apparently), we found a place that looked good.
I planned on ordering the chicken quesadillas, but out of fear of getting burned out on Mexican food so early into the trip, I went with the special instead. Well, I was going to go with the red snapper special, but the waiter really talked up the bacon-wrapped tuna special and said I can “get red snapper anywhere” so I trusted him despite my apprehension toward seared fish. He was right. It took me a few bites to get past the rawness of it, but with the bacon and the dipping sauce it came with, it was very delicious.
After lunch we went to a proper market for morning coffee, and cheese and crackers to snack on after dives. Then we headed back to the hotel for some down time. The pool was clear, but the water level was still half full and there were still pieces of foliage in it. Perhaps tomorrow it will be ready for a dip. No one was sitting by the pool, and I only hear people on occasion, so hopefully I will enjoy some alone time at the pool of solitude during the trip.
I had a relaxing lounge on the hammock on our patio, but when the sun started setting the bugs came out so I retreated inside, where I played some Animal Crossing and started the trip blogs.
For dinner we ventured to Jo’s Garden, a wood fire pizza restaurant recommended to us by our airport shuttle driver. It was one of the best pizzas I’ve had. I’m going to put it in my top 5. Don’t ask what the other 4 are; I can’t make those decisions on the spot. Unfortunately for Kristen, she got sick before the food came and took off at lightning speed back to the hotel, puking all the way. Here’s hoping she can pull it together for the dive tomorrow morning.
When Curtis and I returned there was no water pressure, and then the water stopped altogether. Eduardo told Curtis it happens sometimes and made a comment about the pool. Hopefully that means they are working on filling it up!
