My photos from TwiSarah’s and my trip to Las Vegas are in the gallery. Sorry there’s no pics of Tram Peen. Here’s the link for the album, but since I can’t seem to go more than 6 months without having to recreate my gallery, it probably won’t work at some point. Sry.
THS New Moon Parody
12/13/2009
TwiSarah and I rolled out of bed at 3:30am on Sunday morning. We got about 4 hours of sleep, but it felt like my head had barely touched the pillow. We took an hour to get ready, donning our red shirts and black shoes and jeans. We packed up our red cloaks and snacks for the day and headed to the parking lot to help Lisa decorate her car with paint. It was cold, windy and raining. And dark. Really dark.
We were on the road in a convoy by 5am. Lisa, Sara and Mary (the girls we were riding with) were a lot of fun to hang out with and the ride went quickly, especially while in a Dramamine induced haze. Three and a half hours, two pit stops and one yellow Porsche delivery later we arrived at Scotty’s Castle in Death Valley, CA. Wow!! There were no words to describe how it felt to be driving around winding roads and seeing the clock tower peak out from the mountain tops. I suppose “There’s Volterra,” would be an appropriate phrase.
Viva Las Vegas
TwiSarah and I flew into Las Vegas on Friday. The main focus of our trip: being extras in The Hillwood Show’s New Moon Parody. If you’ve been living under a rock for the last year, the video of their Twilight Parody can be found at the end of the post.

1st Official Celebrity Sighting
I am happy to announce that I had my first official* celebrity sighting yesterday at the Las Vegas airport!!
Eddie Griffin was eating at the Prickley Pear a few tables away from us. I’ve always wanted to see someone from the big (or little) screen in person. If I thought about it, I probably would have been sneaky and taken a picture. It was a very neat experience!!
*Technically I’ve seen celebrities, as I’ve been in the live studio audience for both That ’70s Show and Everybody Loves Raymond. But those don’t count because it wasn’t random. It’s like going to a zoo to see a giraffe. You may have seen a giraffe, but it’s kind of like cheating. They weren’t in their natural habitat. And hey, I can play by my own rules, that’s the way it works.
Viva Las Vegas
Wow, 12 hours ago I got home from the airport. It was a fun long weekend in Las Vegas.
Nick, Travis, Smitty and I headed out to LV on Thursday evening. Checked into the Luxor around 8pm or so… Nick and I upgraded from the pyramid room to one of the tower rooms. We didn’t have a few of the strip, but we could see the side of the Excalibur and had a great view of Hooters. The beds were ultra comfortable, and the bathrooms were very nice. Surprisingly there was no wireless for the internet connection, so we had to string the cable across the room to the desk. We hit up the Pharaoh’s Buffet for dinner that night. The sushi was good, and the dessert section had more sugary desserts than sugar free desserts, which was a nice change from last time we were in LV. After that I headed up to the room and the boys gambled next door in the Excalibur.
On Friday we had a nice adventure on the Monorail. We were going to the Fashion Show Mall and thought it would be cheaper than a cab. It wasn’t. We burned up 1 hour just walking to and from the MGM grand where the closest stop was. Then we walked some more from the stop at Harrah’s to the mall. Then we walked around the mall looking for somewhere to eat and finally decided on the California Pizza Kitchen after becoming hopelessly lost in the mall (that may have been my fault). That night the boys headed out to gamble and I headed to Gena’s bachelorette party. Oh yeah, rewind… we went for my niece Gena’s wedding.
The bachelorette party was nice. We ate at Spanish tapas at Firefly’s, then headed over to the Excalibur to see Thunder from Down Under. Then to the Hard Rock Hotel. We had dessert (no, the man show wasn’t enough) at the Pink Taco, then it was off to Body English to wrap up the evening.
On Saturday the boys got up early to play in a hold ’em tournament, but it was already full. Instead we had brunch at the buffet again. Then Randy joined us for Dinosaurs in 3D at the iMax theater. After that the boys gambled in the arcade. Then it was off to the pool for Nick and Travis, who burnt because they didn’t have sunscreen, and Smitty and I tooled around town. We walked to the Bellagio so he could get a CD of the fountain for Deebz. We stopped in the Paris on the walk back, and after stopping at 3 bars I found myself a souvenir cup (their Pina Colada mix is almost as good as the Tropicana’s, which is the best ever). That night I drug them all to the Flamingo with me. They gambled while I attended a little pre-wedding get together. After that we walked over to Batista’s, a pretty tasty little Italian joint that served free house wine (we tried getting Smitty bombed on it, but he pussed out) and cappuccino. Then we headed back to the Luxor to catch the show Fantasy. It was very entertaining… although I found it odd that everyone seemed to like the comedian more that the boobies…
On Sunday the boys finally got to play in a poker tournament. Travis and Smitty lost right away, Nick placed 4th. Then we moseyed on over to the New York, New York and ate at Chin Chin. Best chinese in LV. Gena and Rick had a beautiful wedding on Sunday evening. The ceremony was outdoors (HOT!!) at the Flamingo. The Flamingo is an awesome hotel. Gena’s first room had a flat screen TV, and a TV imbedded in the bathroom mirror!! The suite she had for the wedding was awesome too. Anyway, I digress… After the ceremony everyone (43 total) headed to the VooDoo Lounge at the Rio for the dinner reception. That place is awesome, it would have been nice to stick around there longer, but we still wanted to get downtown before the end of our trip.
We met Smitty and Travis downtown a little after 10. Nick got his ass handed to him at Switch Blackjack. Smitty and I got our asses handed to us playing Double Bonus Poker. We missed the Fremont experience, we must have been inside at all the wrong times. I wanted to do some shopping on the street and get man handled by the Thunder boys, but I forgot that everything closes up, so I missed that too :( Oh well, next time. I want to stay in the Golden Nugget because they have a water slide that is clear and goes through a giant fish tank with sharks. It looked like a lot of fun.
On Monday we packed up, checked out, got some zza at NY, NY, grabbed some ice cream and headed for the airport. While eating at the Prickly Pear we saw Eddie Griffin. My first official celebrity sighting. It was great!! The flight home was a little delayed taking off and the ride was bumpy. We got in around around 11:30. Boo was happy to see us, probably because she was out of food.
The trip was fun. I can’t wait to go again… in a year or so :)
Pictures to come soon…
