I have to do some maintenance to jillapalooza.com, so if you see anything weird going on in the next couple of days that is why.
Recent goings on
I had a busy night working on my website. First I signed up for a Twitter account, whatever that means. Then I spent forever putting my latest Twitter thing in my sidebar, even though sometimes it doesn’t appear for some reason. Then I upgraded my wp-polls and WPG2 plugins. After that I added in a plugin called Randomosity. It displays random excerpts in my sidebar. It will take a little while to get it going with lots of randomness since I’m just starting with the excerpts.
I really want to use a plugin called Wavatars, but I need some GD2 Library on the server and that’s over my head. I sent an email asking Nick to help, so I’m sure I’ll get it activated by the 10th of never. It looks really cool though. There’s all these goofy looking avatar faces that are somehow assigned to email addresses, so whenever you post a comment with a certain email address, that Wavatar shows up. And the same Wavatar will show up anytime you use that email to post a comment on any blog that uses the Wavatar plugin. And there are 55 billion Wavatar possibilities so there shouldn’t be any duplicates. It also incorporates Gravatars somehow, so if you already have a Gravatar account it will just show that instead.
Wednesday’s hosh posh of stuff
Nick and I celebrated our anniversary last night at Old Spaghetti Factory. Nick had the super meaty spaghetti with an extra meatball, I had the jumbo crab stuffed ravioli special. We also ordered Italian sodas, adding two new glasses to our collection at home. As much as I like to tease and harass Nick, I’m a pretty lucky girl for snagging him in my web. I just love him to pieces… most days.

There’s a new poll to the right… check it out.

I added WP Page Numbers to jillapalooza. It’s a nifty little plug-in that allows you to navigate to a specific page instead of using the next and previous links. It’s good if you are in a specific category and want to read from the beginning (Mom).
This is why I’m cold
This Minnesota weather is really starting to toy with my emotions. It’s nice, then it’s cold, nice, cold, nice, then there’s a snow storm, then it’s 60, 60, 70, 60, it rains, I paint my toe nails, then it’s 35 and snowing. Not exactly the weather I was hoping for when I intended to bust out my sandals today.
I’m just itching for it to be nice. I want cabin weather to be here. I want to wear sandals and skirts. I want to start diving again. Speaking of which, the cklahr duo is somewhere underwater as I blog this. Looking at fishies and corals and what not. *sigh*
Unfortunately Nick can’t relate to the way I feel because the weather is always the same in the room he’s been locked in playing WOW for the last 4 weeks.
Anyway, a lot has happened since I last posted. Nick and I went bowling with Adam, Laura, Smitty (who finally got an email address) and The Deebz. I upgraded to WordPress 2.5, which rocks. I made an all new Killer Beez website which I’ll be doing all my softball posts on. I’ve disabled my jillapaPhorum forum since the only thing on there was Beez posts and put up a forum (with the help of Curtis) on the Killer Beez site in lieu of. And that is just about it.
UPDATE: Just when I thought I’d never see another Sven & Ole’s bumper sticker, I spotted one on Friday on the back of a 1980s Plymouth Voyager, blue with wooden panel siding, heading south on 169.
Makeover
jillapalooza.com got a makeover this weekend!! I coudn’t live without pink and/or stars any longer so here it is, Pink Stars 1.0!! I modified the header image to include the classic jillapalooza logo and I used The GIMP to make it fuzzy and give it a white shadow to match the stars. When I removed the default blog title/slogan that was in the theme it made my header skyline rocket to the top of the page, so I had to edit the margins in the style sheet, then change some of the code so it looked equally as good in IE as it did in Firefox.
Then I decided to upgrade my polls, Akismet spam filter and WPG2 plug-in which was a Bitch with a capital B. Now that the embedded page is a WordPress page and not an external .php page, it gave me all sorts of troubles. The gallery portion was all off centered and too large. I ended up copying my header/footer files into wpg2header/footer and that seemed to take care of the problem with centering. Then I cropped my header image and added a new style class so that my gallery started near the top of the page instead of half way down. It could look better, but who’s complaining? Still looks crappy in IE though, but who uses that anyway?
Here’s to semi-successful upgrades!! :D
Let me know what you think.
